He Found Me

Today was the day that she dreaded the most. She woke up just like it was any other day.
She checked her phone as normal.
And when she saw the date and all the facebook messages on Facebook. She broke down.
It is Father's Day.
It is the day that brings back all the memories of him. She realises how much she really needs him.
She planned to stay in bed for the day.
But something occurred to her.
Everyone is spending the day with their dad's.
She climbed out of bed and got ready. On the fridge was a note from her mom saying that she had to go to work, her mother was a nurse at the local hospital.
She packed a lunch and walked out. She picked flowers from her neighbours house as she passed and continued down the road.

She hasn't been here since the funeral.
She kneels down in front of her father's headstone.
"Hello Daddy" she whispers. "Happy Father's Day..." She places the flowers on the ground in front of the headstone. "How have you been? I have been okay. Mom's been taking strain, working overtime a lot. We miss you..." Tears roll down her cheeks. "I love you Dad" she gets too her feet. She wipes her eyes and walks out of the cemetery.

Ten minutes later she is strolling down the promenade.
Her dad and her used to always go to the beach. He loved it. The ocean, the sand, everything. It was his place to be free...
She slips her shoes off and carries her basket onto the sand.
She lays out a blanket and the food and sits down.
"Happy Father's Day Dad!" She says as she opens his favourite pack of chips.

"Hello?" A voice came from behind her.
She turns around and looks up through the sun light.
"Hey?" She says to the silhouette.
"Um... What are you doing?" The person asks, motioning to the picnic. "I mean, why is someone like you, sitting alone?"
She laughed at the person.
"Honestly? I am having a picnic with my dad. Which is crazy right?"
"No, why would that be cra-"
"Because my dad is dead." She snaps, cutting the person off.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Can I join you guys?" The person steps around the picnic blanket. She looks up at him. He has blonde-ish hair and a stunning smile.
She was taken aback.
"I guess so." She shrugs. He sits down.
"What's your dad's name?"
"Marlo, why?"
"Nice to meet you Mr. Marlo. My name is Tyler. Happy to be having lunch with you and your beautiful daughter." He winks at her.

They spend an hour talking over chicken mayo sandwiches about eachother. Then they go for a stroll along the shore, talking about their dads. She heard so many amazing things about the man, Tyler's father.

She couldn't believe that she had ever been upset because when Tyler mysteriously dropped into her life he turned it upside down like a rollercoaster and she is screaming but she doesn't want it to end...

When the sun begins to set they head back to the picnic blanket.
"Thank you..." She says to him when they stop.
"It's not over yet. Watch the sun set with me?" She stares at him for a minute before nodding and sitting down.
They stare at the beautiful sun, slowly moving down, disappearing into the horizon.
Tyler moves closer.
She puts her head on his shoulder.
"Thank you, for helping me get through this day..." She whispers.
"Yeah well... A few years ago, a particular girl helped me through this day." He reaches over and squeezes her hand. "I never thanked you for that... Thank you!"
She smiles to herself.
She doesn't know how Tyler found her today, but he did. And she is so happy that he did.
He is here for her. Like she was there for him.
